The weekend looms over you once again! That’s a good thing; maybe “looming” isn’t the right image. Lurks? No. Hangs out? Get ready to hang out with your weekend! And, sometimes we don’t have the healthiest weekends. It’s ok! If you can’t cut loose, stay out late, and eat ice cream for breakfast on the weekend, then when can you? We’re adults and we have jobs and bills and responsibilities. When we can get away with it, we let it all hang out because we earned it, darn it! Anyway, we don’t want to worry about you. So this Friday, we thought we’d give you some healthy suggestions for ways to amp up your weekend with healthy stuff. You can do the things listed below before, during, or after your weekend. It’s all good!
1) Juice it!
You’ve probably heard of the juice craze by now. It’s good and good for you, so cleanse those organs and brains! If you have the get your head outta the gutter mentality, juice is a great way to clean up your act. Keep it simple with some kale (4 or 5 stalks), 3 apples, 1 lemon, and 1 cucumber. Kale has many essential vitamins and targets the liver for a cleanse (which might be helpful this weekend, who knows?), and the cuke has loads of vitamin B (also might be helpful, depending on whatever you might be doing). Juice ‘em up, and if you don’t have a juicer, blend them thoroughly and toss some grapefruit juice or water in to thin the mixture, or just hit up your local juice bar.
2) Do some neurobics!
Don’t worry; you don’t actually have to work out for these. Your brain does the work. Keep your wits sharp by outsmarting yourself. Try brushing your teeth with your non-dominant hand. Take routes of travel you don’t normally take. Pick your clothes based on touch, rather than sight. Sounds silly, but simple activities like these will keep your brain in shape so you can be extra witty when you’re out on a Saturday night. You know the bar scene in Good Will Hunting? You can be Matt Damon!
3) STOP SMOKING!
Sorry, we couldn’t help it.
4) Laugh! It’s the weekend, anyway.
Laughter strengthens your immune system, improves social interaction, and lowers blood pressure. And, I mean, it’s laughing. If you’re against this one, you’re a mean one, Mr. or Ms. Grinch.
So have a healthy weekend, or at least a somewhat healthy weekend, or at least give these things a try in between bacon marathons. Nothing like bacon! Mmmmmm. We like to cook the eggs in the grease left from the bacon. Give that a try, too, but not this weekend, because we’re being healthy, remember?
What are you doing to get healthy in your brain and your body this weekend? Tell us about your methods on Facebook and Twitter! And, keep checking our blog for more weekend suggestions. Until next time, happy, healthy hunting this weekend, if you will! We mean, hunting for health, or something like that. It’s hard to make this play on words work.
