kubxlab's new ultra thin iPhone cases are a hot commodity.
At 5 grams and 0.39 mm thickness, they’re practically nonexistent in the physical realm. Your phone will forget that it’s wearing anything at all, which we all know is the freest feeling (picture Tom Cruise sliding across the floor in his underwear in “Risky Business”).
Seems like every week there’s a new rave review of the sexy little cases, so we don’t really need to highlight their advantages anymore, really. Instead, let’s get more free form, a little more philosophical, and celebrate general lightness. Light body, light spirit- or something like that.
Here’s a salute to all things LIGHT!
1) Graphene Aerogel
Developed by Professor Gao Chao from Zhejiang University in Hanzhou, China, graphene aerogel is the lightest material on Earth. It has one-sixth the density of air! We don’t understand how this is even a thing, but it’s pretty cool that someone made it, right?
2) Gunter Mai’s 6-lb Bike
You read that correctly. This is a complete road bike that seriously weighs 6 lbs. It’s not just a novelty, either, with Mai and his buddies putting in 20,000 km of road riding on it in two years. It’s insane. You could throw this bike like a baseball.
3) Thibault Penven’s Ultralight Foldable Boat
The Ar-Vag, an ultra lightweight foldable boat designed by Swiss student Thibeault Penven weighs tens of pounds and can fold neatly into your backpack. No one will ever guess that you have a boat in your backpack—neat little secret!
These are the lightest mammals in the world. They weigh about 2 grams, or the same as a penny. If that’s not adorable, then we don’t know what is.
These things are insanely lightweight. Altogether this list weighs less than a hundred pounds, easily, even if you add our ultra thin iPhone 5 case to the mix. In the future, everything will be feather-light! And, the kubxlab cases will be remembered fondly as the forerunners of the lightweight revolution!
